Don Luis: Weaving Legacy in the Northern Andes
Crafted in the Highlands
Don Luis owns and runs a small weaving workshop in the Andes Mountains of northern Ecuador, where he employs three to four local artisans. Together, they use traditional wooden handlooms and hand-operated tools to weave their magic into our Classic blankets, throws and scarves. These techniques have been passed down through generations, and every piece they create carries the richness of this legacy.
A Family Workshop
The workshop is built on a foundation of precision, tradition and community. Don Luis takes great pride in his work and in supporting local employment. The small but skilled team he leads is committed to producing high-quality textiles that honour Ecuador’s Indigenous heritage.
A Partnership That Builds Futures
Since partnering with La Sierra, Don Luis has been able to build a beautiful new home for his family , a long-held goal made possible through his dedication and growing business. His success has also allowed him to support his daughter’s aspirations, including the opportunity for her to live and study abroad in Spain.
Woven with Purpose
Luis’s textiles do more than keep people warm, they carry stories of tradition, progress and possibility. In a world where handmade skill is increasingly rare, we feel privileged to work with Luis and share his work with customers who value craftsmanship with heart.
