The Alpaca Fibre
Where tradition meets sustainability

Sustainable by nature
Why We Choose Alpaca
Alpaca is a naturally sustainable fibre that’s gentle on the earth, kind to the skin, and crafted to last. From soft, padded feet that protect native grasslands to a fleece that requires little water, dye or processing, Alpacas tread lightly in every sense. At La Sierra, we honour these animals by working with only what we need and creating timeless pieces in collaboration with artisan communities across South America.
When you choose Alpaca, you’re choosing a future-forward fibre that honours people, planet, and tradition. Supporting sustainability not just environmentally, but socially, culturally, and economically.
We believe in creating pieces that stand the test of time. Alpaca fibres are not only luxuriously soft but also durable, reparable, and compostable.

Our Alpaca Fibres
Crafted With Intention
At La Sierra, we work with a wide variety of Alpaca fibres, each chosen for its unique feel, function and beauty. From soft Baby Alpaca to unique Suri Alpaca, textured Bouclé and durable Adult Alpaca, we select the perfect fibre for each design based on its structure, weight and purpose.
We also explore a wide range of natural colourways and fibre blends, incorporating other natural materials like cotton, merino and, occasionally, wool. In certain pieces, like pants or high-movement garments, we include a small amount of polyamide to improve durability, resilience and overall wearability. Every fibre we use is thoughtfully sourced to create garments that are high quality, long-lasting.
