Don Jaime is the head of a family business that runs a small workshop in Southern Ecuador producing handmade hats.

Working mainly with his nephew, Señor José, they keep alive the traditional method of hand-weaving hats from specially treated fine-quality toquilla palm straw.

Whilst they make various styles, the traditional Panama style remains the most popular.
