La Sierra currently works with artisans from two different communities in South America: the Quechua indigenous people from the Andes Mountains of Northern Ecuador, and the Aymara indigenous people from the Lake Titicaca District in Southern Peru.
Following Fair Trade practices, we help these artisans directly to make a sustainable living for their families, to send their children to school and to provide much-needed health care.

Social & Cultural Sustainability
Alpacas play a part in preserving traditional Andean cultures and skills.
From the breeders who raise the livestock, to the master sorters who learn from their parents how to sort the fleece, to the spinners, knitters and weavers who craft some of the world’s highest quality items, Alpaca fibre is part of Peru’s rich and diverse textile heritage.
